ACTUATED MEDICAL RECEIVES SBA’S PRESTIGIOUS TIBBETTS AWARD

BELLEFONTE, PA – The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) selected Actuated Medical
as a 2014 Tibbetts Award winner. The SBA presents these national awards to companies
who exemplify the very best of the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program.
Actuated Medical is one of 25 winners who will attend a White House Awards Program to
be held in concert with SBIR’s upcoming annual conference.

The award is named for Roland Tibbetts, acknowledged as the father of the SBIR program.
Winners are selected by a panel of judges based on the economic impact of their
technological innovation, how they supported federal research and development needs,
and their ability to increase commercialization of federal research.

“SBIR grants have been at the core of our business strategy since we founded the company
in 2006.” said Maureen L. Mulvihill, President and CEO. “Over the years, we’ve received 7
Phase II awards worth over $10 million. In fact, for 2013 Actuated Medical was the top
