BELLEFONTE, Pa. – April 14, 2020 – PRLog — The College Township Industrial Development Authority (CTIDA) quickly issued a line of credit to Actuated Medical, Inc. (AMI) for the development of a face shield production line. The face shields went into production in just one week, a rapid turnaround to support essential workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We’ve worked with CTIDA in the past, and we turned to them first,” said Maureen L. Mulvihill, PhD, president and CEO of AMI. “Without their support, we wouldn’t be able to provide face shields for local first responders.”
The Mission of the College Township Industrial Development Authority is to encourage the growth of new and existing businesses and industrial groups.
Face shields went into production on March 31. AMI hired additional temporary employees to meet demand. Customers and recipients of the face shields include Bellefonte Emergency Medical Services (EMS), State College Borough Police Department, and Service Master. The shields are reusable, sturdier and more cleanable compared to typical face shields. Actuated Medical is developing a simplified version of the Face Shield which will be available for purchase the week of April 13.
