High school students get real world engineering training at Piezo Resonance Innovations

STATE COLLEGE, PA – Piezo Resonance Innovations, Inc (PRII), a Bellefonte-based company which specializes in the integration of smart materials technology into advanced medical products, recently received a National Science Foundation – Research Assistantship Supplements for High School Students (RAHSS) Grant.

The grant money will be used to support active research participation by two area high school students – Rachel Dahlberg and Brianna Wendt of Bellefonte High School. Both students have an interest in pursuing science, technology, and engineering studies at the college level, and will work part-time at PRII supporting the company’s in-situ feeding tube cleaner technology.

PRII also received a NSF Research Experiences for Teachers (RET) Grant which will be used to support the efforts of a Bellefonte High School teacher, Julie Coder. Ms. Coder’s work with the company will help her develop classroom studies and projects involving engineering and technology that can be used to encourage student interest in these areas.

PRII is excited to bring these opportunities to the Bellefonte School District as part of its growing commitment to the community and increasing interest of students in science and technology.
